Prosecution to summon players in golfing scandal
Wednesday, March 15th, 2006“The prosecution yesterday said it will start summoning officials connected to a golf game on March 1 that created a public scandal leading to Prime Minister Lee Hae chan’s resignation yesterday.Â
Lee was accused of playing golf with businessmen who tried to lobby him on the fairways, while the nation’s railway workers were on strike.
The prosecution said it will first question Grand National Party lawmakers who filed a complaint to the prosecution requesting Lee and his golf partner Vice Education Minister Lee Gi woo be investigated on charges of accepting bribes and special treatment from businessmen.
A team at the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office that probes public servants’ crimes undertook the case on Monday.
The prosecution also plans to summon the golf caddies and the officals from the Asiad Country Club in Busan who were present during the round of golf.”Â
