North Harbor modernization fasttracked

Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) general manager Alfonso Cusi has presented to major port stakeholders the proposed alternative plan for the North Harbor modernization project, citing the need to fasttrack its modernization “due to cost component and safety aspects.”

Cusi proposed the plan after the Coalition for Shipping and Port Modernization (CSPM) voiced its opposition to the previous administration’s plan on the single-operator concept, citing it would only result in a monopoly in the principal port of the country.

IN only one year, if Bulacan Representive Willie Villarama has it right, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) stands to lose about 100 million pesos.

Willie is referring to the PPA’s rental income from the Marine Slipway. This is an area of more than seven hectares at the Manila port.
